OSU Takes 40K SF in PDX’s Historic Meier & Frank Building
Oregon State University leased 39,509 square feet in downtown Portland’s Meier & Frank Building, an historic 16-story 208,520-square-foot condominium interest property located at 621 SW 5th Ave. Owners KBS and Sterling Bay are converting roughly 158,500 square feet into creative office space.
The second floor space will be used for the university’s existing Portland operations, the OSU Extension Service, the OSU Foundation, the OSU Alumni Association and OSU Athletics. Additionally, the location will house OSU advantage, a private industry partnership and commercialization initiative, as well as a few classrooms and meeting spaces.
Macy’s sold five floors of the property to KBS and Sterling Bay last year for $54 million. The building’s upper floors are occupied by The Nines hotel, which is owned separately by Pebblebrook Hotel Trust.
OSU plans to occupy the space Aug. 1, 2018.
CBRE’s Kristin Hammond, Ajay Malhotra and Jan Bottcher represented the tenant. CBRE’s Trevor Kafoury and Kevin Kaufman represented the landlord.
