Magic hire team to build $500M entertainment district

Orlando Magic Hires Entertainment District Team

The NBA’s Orlando Magic is jumping on the sports and entertainment district bandwagon. The team has enlisted JMA Ventures LLC and Machete Group to design and fund the proposed $500 million project. Magic officials hope the project resembles L.A. Live across the street from the Staples Center — the home of the NBA’s LA Lakers and LA Clippers.

The 8.5-acre project across from the Amway Center’s northern entrance is envisioned to have a 250-room hotel tower, 420,000 square feet of office space including the Magic’s corporate headquarters, apartments, a parking garage, retail and restaurants, a centralized plaza and more.

The project aims to break ground by the end of 2024 and have 2.5 years of construction, potentially making its debut sometime in 2026.

JMA is a full-service development and acquisition firm with a history of sports-related projects. Machete Group’s website describes itself as “an advisory firm providing venue development, transactional, and organizational strategy services” with a long list of sports-related clients.
