Orlando Agency Probing Independent-Living Tower

The group that built the Orlando Lutheran Towers plans to knock down a four-story assisted-living facility and replace it with a new 15-story, 128-unit independent-living tower. The new tower to go up at 300 E. Church St., will complement the existing 17-story Fountains tower (photo) on the 2.35-acre site.

The Orlando Business Journal reports the project is estimated to cost more than $83 million.

Plans also include a 5,917-square-foot restaurant and a pool deck, adding lifestyle amenities to the senior living campus.

The Fountains tower, built in 1980, currently includes more than 183 independent-living units and a chapel. Orlando Senior Health Network has several meeting dates with planning officials before building permits are issued. Finfrock is the project designer.
