Orange County’s Tallest Tower Advances, Resi Component Added to O-Zone Development
The Santa Ana City Council approved a plan to include up to 415 residential units in Caribou Industries’ 37-story One Broadway Plaza tower in Santa Ana. Previous plans for the mixed-use development, in the works for two decades by Santa Ana-based developer Michael Harrah, did not include residential. The multifamily component will be housed within 19 floors of the building with roughly 200,000 square feet of office space in the balance.
Brokers from Lee & Associates’ Office Advisory Group, Matthew Orville, Marshal Vogt and Jaimeson Hearne, lauded the project as Orange County’s largest shovel-ready opportunity zone site. Once completed, the building at 1001 N. Broadway will be the tallest building in Orange County.
The development timeline has not yet been made public for the 4.34-acre parcel that is bounded by Broadway, Washington Avenue, Tenth Street and Sycamore Street. Various plans over the years since the project was initially proposed in 1999 have included a 38- to 44-story office building.
