Orange County Employment Picture Bright
Orange County employment is on the upswing. A recent report by Jones Lang LaSalle (JLL) indicates the total number of non-farm jobs in August was at 1.54 million, a 3.3 percent increase from the same time a year ago. Meanwhile, unemployment in Orange County currently stands at just 4.7 percent, significantly better than the 6.5 percent rate for the entire state.
Office employment increased by 12,700 workers year on year, a 2.4-percent gain. The professional and business services industry was the main driver of that boost. Construction and healthcare are also seeing jumps.
Among the major Orange County office leases noted by JLL were those by Loan Depot, which leased 238,732 square feet in five buildings throughout the area.
