Open in Lubbock: Leasable Commercial Kitchen Space

Hand of the Cook, for-lease commercial kitchen space, opened in downtown Lubbock, TX. The 1,200-square-foot space at the Legacy Event Center has conventional and convective ovens, a tilt skillet, 12 stove burners and refrigerator and freezer space. Also available are multiple preparation and plating areas.

The space at 1500 14th St. is part of a national trend involving for-lease food-preparation space. Hand of the Cook owner Lori Owen told the Lubbock Avalanche-Journal that she got the idea for the business from friends with a similar facility in the Dallas-Fort Worth area.

The kitchen is insured and permitted, and users are required to have a food-handler’s license. Different rental packages are available, and tenants have 24-hour access to the kitchen. Owen said the space is geared toward those who have outgrown their kitchens, such as food-truck owners who need more space to cater events.
