Ontario Airport Plans $2.4M Retail Renovation
Ontario International Airport plans $2.4-million in upgrades of its terminal retail options. New stores slated to join the mix include Hudson, Tech on the Go, Ink by Hudson, Daily News, Ontario Provisions and Cali Market.
As part of a new eight-year non-exclusive deal with Hudson Group and HG ONT Retailers JV, the airport authority can take over any concession stand and install a new operator. Previously, Hudson operated under an exclusive arrangement for all news, gift and retail shops in the terminals. It has been challenging to lease all the concession stands, which was made even tougher when passenger traffic declined.
The airport authority believes the new arrangement could generate an additional $500,000 in rent. Earlier this year, the airport came under local control and operator Delaware North agreed to invest $6 million to completely rebrand and refurbish its concessions, which includes a number of new restaurants, coffee shops and bars.
