Mega Furniture buys empty San Antonio Sears store

Onetime San Antonio Sears Store Taken Over by Mega Furniture

A former Sears location that was part of the Ingram Park Mall at 6301 NW Loop 410 was sold to a furniture retailer. The big-box location has been vacant since 2018 after the national retailer filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy. Ingram Park Mall itself went into foreclosure in July 2021, a victim of the Covid pandemic. It was bought by a Morgan Stanley affiliate for about $100 million.

Exact terms of the deal weren’t disclosed but the San Antonio Business Journal reported that someone representing Phoenix-based Mega Furniture, took out a $4.88 million loan from KS StateBank as part of the transaction. The Bexar County Appraisal District’s 2023 valuation marks the site’s assessed value at about $7.2 million. The space consists of 169,000 square feet.
