Onetime Irving AT&T Dorm to Become Apartment Community

AMLI Residential Properties LP seeks to demolish the former AT&T complex on Colwell Boulevard and develop a 406-unit community. The company has requested a zoning change for the roughly 13-acre site. The Dallas Business Journal reports the Irving City Council could vote on the matter in April. In place of the dorms, AMLI plans to build six apartment buildings, four townhome-style buildings, a sports court, pocket parks and a 4,000-square-foot community building.

The site is right next to the AT&T Advanced Education Center and housed 304 units dispersed among 12 three-story dorm buildings, as well as a pool, tennis courts and a basketball court. The Dallas-based telecommunications company vacated the site in 2023 and aims to sell the property to AMLI.

The land is across Las Colinas Boulevard from the former headquarters of Exxon Mobil.

AMLI Residential oversees 12 apartment communities in Dallas-Fort Worth, including the nearby AMLI at Escena and AMLI on Riverside to the north.
