Omni Wins Raleigh Convention Center Hotel Bid
The City of Raleigh chose Omni Hotel Group to build a downtown hotel on what had been a city owned parking lot. The bid was awarded based on a Request for Information submittal.
The Triangle Business Journal reports the project calls for a 500-room “upper upscale” hotel on a single-acre lot on Fayetteville Street near the Raleigh Convention Center and across from the Martin Marietta Center for the Performing Arts.
Preston Hollow Community Capital, a Dallas-based finance firm, and Omni have agreed to fund the project without any financing contingencies. Although no cost estimate was made public, the cost to build a 500-key, 4 to 5-star hotel could exceed $200 million.
Renderings for the new hotel show a mostly glass tower featuring a rooftop pool. The hotel will also feature five food and beverage “outlets,” two ballrooms and related meeting space and a spa.
