Old Line Steakhouse Pietro’s Returning to Midtown in New Location

An old-line steakhouse that lost its lease last summer will return to Midtown Manhattan. Pietro’s Ristorante will open in June at Stellar Management’s 890 Second Ave. in a deal arranged by Lee & Associates NYC and Cushman & Wakefield.

Founded in 1932 by brothers Natale and Pietro Donini, Pietro’s had been located at 232 E. 43rd St. since 1984. The relaunched restaurant in Turtle Bay will occupy 3,564 square feet of ground-floor space and 1,458 square feet of lower-level space in a new 15-year lease.

“Seeking a turnkey space near its previous location on 43rd Street, Pietro’s aimed to continue serving its loyal customer base,” said Cory Gahr, managing director with Lee NYC. “890 Second Ave. presented an ideal opportunity in a competitive market, especially for second-generation restaurant spaces, offering both convenience and strategic positioning for the restaurant’s continued success.”

Sean Moran and Patrick O’Rourke of Cushman & Wakefield represented Stellar Management in leasing negotiations. In a New York Times article marking the closing of the East 43rd Street location, designer Michael Kors said, “I’ve always liked that you can still feel some of the ‘Mad Men’ era here. Pietro’s is the last of the Mohicans.”
