Office Spaces for Artists in Lower Manhattan

Property owners are lending a little bit of office space to New York City artists, thanks to a program by the Lower Manhattan Cultural Council (LMCC), a local arts organization.

Through LMCC’s nine-month residency program, the artists set up their studios in some of the most expensive office buildings in Manhattan, such as 28 Liberty Plaza. In exchange, property owners get a little cultural cache, and put space to use that might otherwise be empty.

“We have managed to find very willing and enthusiastic partners, especially in the real estate community,” said Melissa Levin, vice president of cultural programs for LMCC. “We work with local real estate owners and minimally adapt and take over these temporarily vacant commercial spaces, and adopt them for artist use.”
