Obie Sets Table for Portland’s Urban Restaurant Group at Eugene Development

When the Gordon Hotel opens this fall in Eugene it will include two new restaurants by Springfield, OR native Mark Byrum. Obie Companies selected Portland-based Urban Restaurant Group to open Carlita’s Rooftop on the hotel’s seventh floor and The Gordon Tavern on the ground floor.

Byrum’s Urban Restaurants operates seven restaurants and a catering company in Portland, but this is his first venture outside of the Portland area. The Gordon Hotel is part of the 5th Street Public Market Expansion currently under construction west of the original Market. In addition to the 82-room boutique hotel, the project includes the 127-unit Gordon Lofts apartments and the three-story Market Building with Nike on the ground floor and co-working office space on the top two floors.

The Gordon Tavern will offer classic American comfort food in the 4,000-square-foot restaurant space at 6th Avenue and Oak Street. Carlita’s Rooftop will open in spring of 2021 on the seventh floor of the Gordon Hotel.
