NYU Begins to Occupy Renovated, 530K-SF Tower at 370 Jay St.

The first tenant has arrived at 370 Jay St., a massive, renovated 530,000-square-foot office building in Downtown Brooklyn. New York University Center for Urban Science and Progress (CUSP) began to occupy its space at the building Dec. 13, 2017.

“Ultimately it is our vision that 370 Jay Street will house engineers, research scientists, game designers, media artists, and musicians – all interacting and collaborating under one roof,” said Andrew Hamilton, president of NYU.

Once home to the headquarters of the Metropolitan Transit Authority, NYU won a 99-year lease on the building in 2012 as part of the City’s Applied Science NYC initiative. Renovation restored the building’s original limestone facade, transforming an eyesore that had stood vacant for more than a decade.

The finished building will be fully occupied in 2019.
