NYC’s Tech Talent Lures Tech Giants

Tech talent employment in the New York City metropolitan area reached 264,000 jobs last year, jumping 44% since 2011, according to CBRE’s latest Tech Talent ViewPoint. CBRE says the pace of growth is accelerating, growing from an annual increase of 2.2% in 2016 to 4% in 2018.

The report, based on CBRE’s North American Scoring Tech Talent Report, also found that the NYC metro area is North America’s largest producer of tech degree graduates, adding more than 13,000 new tech graduates in 2017.

“The deep tech talent pool in New York City continues to attract some of the biggest, most influential tech companies in the industry, spurring office leasing across multiple submarkets,” said CBRE vice chairman Sacha Zarba. “Tech giants Google, Peloton Interactive, Netflix and Twitter alone accounted for more than 2.7 million square feet of space commitments in New York over the past 12 months.”
