NYCEDC Breaks Ground on Waterfront Park in Sunset Park Industrial District

New York City Economic Development Corporation (NYCEDC) broke ground Tuesday at Pier 6, a five-acre pier located at MADE Bush Terminal in the Sunset Park District in Brooklyn. With construction slated for completion in 2027, Pier 6 will rehabilitate a deteriorated pier to add a waterfront park for community residents and tenants of MADE (Manufacturers, Artisans, Designers and Entrepreneurs) Bush Terminal.

“The Pier 6 renovation is a prime example of how investing in building green spaces and creating opportunities for public waterfront access are integral steps in serving our communities, tenants, and their needs,” said NYCEDC president & CEO Andrew Kimball. NYCEDC will work with Arcadis, Matrix New World, SCAPE Landscape Architecture DPC, Sam Schwartz Engineering for engineering and design, Johnson & Asberry for community outreach and engagement and JK Muir for sustainability.

The 200-acre Sunset Park District showcases an array of technology, community and workforce spaces across four major industrial campuses: Brooklyn Army Terminal, South Brooklyn Marine Terminal, MADE Bush Terminal and the Brooklyn Wholesale Meat Market.
