NYC Keeps Handing Out Affordable Housing Resources

Despite threatened cuts to federal programs, New York City is still allocating housing resources to new development and redevelopment.

The City awarded rental subsidies to 558 apartments through the federally-funded project-based Sec. 8 voucher program.

“Now more than ever, we must put this tool to use creating and preserving affordable housing opportunities for New Yorkers,” said Maria Torres-Springer, commissioner of the City’s Department of Housing Preservation and Development.

The communities range from the Grand (pictured), a 137-unit, new construction project in the Fordham South neighborhood of the Bronx, to Carol Gardens, a 314-unit project to preserve two Mitchell-Lama buildings in the Soundview neighborhood of the Bronx.
