NYC Finance Services Jobs Finally Recover from the Crash

New York City finally has more people working in its financial services sector than it did before the Global Financial Crisis.

There were 477,800 people on financial services payrolls in August, up 1 percent compared to December 2007. The current number of finance workers is still less than the peak of 525,000 in 1990, according to an analysis of data from the New York State Dept. of Labor by JLL.

Companies in the Finance, Insurance, and Real Estate business still drive much of the demand for office space in New York City — accounting for 29.1% of the square feet of office space leased in Manhattan, according to JLL.
