
NYC Crime at Historic Lows
Crime rates keep dropping in New York City, according to the latest numbers from the New York City Police Dept. (NYPD). That includes murder rates — which are unlikely to be under-counted.
“We’ve seen the lowest number of index crimes here since the ‘50s and we’re – with informed, engaged, and empowered communities, we’re going to keep pushing those numbers down even further,” said Police Commissioner James P. O’Neill.
A safer city is an important ingredient to rising real estate prices — especially as the boom spreads to neighborhoods deep in Brooklyn and the Bronx.
