NY State’s Highest Court “Definitively Ends” Legal Challenges to 200 Amsterdam
The New York Court of Appeals on Thursday denied an opposition group’s attempt to appeal a previous court’s ruling upholding the validity of 200 Amsterdam’s building permits.
This ruling follows March’s decision by New York State’s Appellate Division, First Department. That ruling in favor of the Upper West Side residential condominium tower’s developers unanimously overturned a lower court’s ruling that had sought to retroactively apply a draft zoning interpretation to an already-constructed building.
Steven J. Pozycki, chairman and CEO of SJP Properties, said the Court of Appeals’ decision “definitively ends the unwarranted legal challenges against 200 Amsterdam. This decision confirms the Appellate Division’s recent unanimous ruling that 200 Amsterdam’s building permits are lawful and properly issued.
“200 Amsterdam will legally and rightfully stand as meticulously constructed and soon welcome homeowners while generating millions of dollars in annual tax revenue to the benefit of all New York City residents,” he continued.
