NRG Upgrading Future HQ for 2026 Move

NRG Energy plans to spend at least $31.4 million revamping its headquarters in Fulbright Tower, 1301 McKinney St., downtown.

NRG leased 245,000 square feet on the top 10 floors of Fulbright Tower. The integrated power and home services company is expected to move into the new space in January 2026.

The Houston Business Journal reports the build-out is expected to begin in late 2024 and be complete around late September 2025. The company has tapped Houston-based Kirksey Architecture to design its new headquarters.

In May 2021, NRG named Houston its sole headquarters after claiming dual headquarters in Houston and Princeton, New Jersey.

Meanwhile, Houston Center, which includes Fulbright Tower, recently underwent a massive renovation that included improvements to all of the buildings in the office complex.

Houston Center is a 4.2 million-square-foot complex spanning 9.2 acres downtown. It includes 2 Houston Center, 3 Houston Center, 4 Houston Center, LyondellBasell Tower and The Highlight at Houston Center.
