NPB Capital Proposes RiverPlace Redevelopment in Downtown Portland

Portland-based NPB Capital has assembled eight acres along the waterfront in Portland with plans to develop RiverPlace, a mixed-use project featuring several towers and a terraced public plaza. The master plan for the site along the Willamette River, between Tom McCall Waterfront Park and the South Waterfront, calls for up to 2,500 new apartments in multiple buildings.

The current plan includes more than three million gross square feet with building heights up to 325 feet, and exclusive access to the Riverplace Marina. The mix of uses includes office, mixed-use residential, hotel, and new publicly-accessible open space designed by world-renowned Kengo Kuma and Associates and GBD Architects. The plaza concept is called the Portland Steps, and features a stair-stepped plaza that leads down to the banks of the Willamette River.

The development at 1811 SW River Dr. is under review by the Portland Design Commission.
