Now Pending: Another Texas Bank Merger

Another Texas bank merger is pending, this one between Inter National Bank, headquartered in McAllen, and Vantage Bank of San Antonio. If approved, the deal will close by Q4 2018, with the new entity operating under the Vantage Bank Texas brand. The merger will result in total assets of $1.9 billion and deposits of $1.6 billion.

Both banks are owned by the Collins Family Trust, which is also in McAllen. The trust had sold Inter National Bank to Grupo Financiero Banorte of Mexico in 2006, then repurchased it in 2017. Trustee Jim Collins said that, after Inter National was re-acquired, the next step was to consolidate it with Vantage Bank.

The new entity will provide products and services to San Antonio, South and Central Texas and El Paso.

In other Texas bank merger news, Veritex Holdings and Green Bancorp recently unveiled their merger plans.
