Northwood Retail planning 1 million sf office

Northwood Exploring 1M SF Austin Office Project

Dallas-based Northwood Retail is looking at building a 24-story, million-square building at The Domain in Austin. Its plans call for the developer to take over a parking garage, that will have to be demolished to make room for the new development.

The estimated cost of construction is $155 million. It is expected to begin Jan. 8, 2024, and wrap up Sept. 9, 2026. Addison, Texas-based UD Architects is attached as architect and Austin-based Kimley-Horn is attached as landscape architect. The Austin Business Journal reports Northwood Retail’s project, called Domain Block C Office, would rise on a portion of a 5.1-acre site bounded by Rock Rose Avenue on the north and Palm Way on the south. That site is already home to retail, multifamily and a parking garage.

Also in the Domain is Hines latest project, a 500,000-square-foot office development that will see two 14-story towers rise at the northern tip of The Domain. That property will be IBM’s new home in Austin.
