Chicago’s NorthPoint Launches First Build at Former Republic Steel Site

Meridian Design Build recently started construction on a 358,879-square-foot, multi-tenant industrial spec building for NorthPoint Development. The new facility at 12144 South Ave. O on the city’s southeast side will be the first building in NorthPoint’s 200-acre Avenue O Industrial Park master-planned development.

With 36-foot clear heights, 12144 S. Ave. O will incorporate four drive-in doors, 257 auto parking spaces, 106 trailer parking stalls and up to 92 loading docks. Slated to total 2.3 million square feet, the NorthPoint project will rise on the former site of the Republic Steel mill, and will be one of the largest new industrial developments in Chicago in 15 years.

The new development is just a few miles from the nearby Ford Motors Chicago Assembly Plant. It will also be immediately adjacent to the 1.6-million-square-foot Ford supplier industrial park, which NorthPoint acquired in 2017.

Connect Chicago Fall 2019 will take place Oct. 29 in Chicago. For more information, or to register, click here.
