Nordstrom’s South Norwalk Debut Pushed Up Two Weeks

Nordstrom will open its doors at the under-construction SoNo Collection mall in South Norwalk, CT on Friday, Oct. 11, two weeks ahead of the mall’s original completion date. The retailer said other tenants would be doing the same.

Construction on the SoNo Collection began under the aegis of GGP, which set a completion date of Oct. 26, 2019. Since then, GGP was acquired by Brookfield Properties, which indicated it was on pace for an October opening, without stating whether it would do so ahead of GGP’s initial goal of Oct. 26.

It will be Nordstrom’s second department store in Connecticut, after a location at the Westfarms mall in Farmington. It’s one of two anchor stores for the SoNo Collection, alongside Bloomingdale’s.

Nordstrom is unveiling the new, 140,000-square-foot store during a “Norwalk Night Out” on the Thursday before the grand opening, complete with a fall fashion show and cocktails.
