Norco Bans Warehouse Development for 45 Days

It just got tougher to build new warehouses and industrial buildings in the Inland Empire as the Norco City Council voted unanimously on August 17th to ban new developments for 45 days. Known as Horsetown, USA, Norco prides itself for its rural lifestyle, and city leaders have been concerned about the growing presence of industrial centers throughout the region.

The Inland Empire is one of the most in-demand industrial markets in the country, and the moratorium allows Norco more time to study the potential impacts warehousing has on traffic and the environment.

According to the Press-Enterprise, the ordinance goes into effect immediately, and could be extended up to two years by the council after a public hearing. It should be noted that the Norco City Council has already approved a 2-million square foot, ranch-themed industrial project earlier this year called Palomino Business Park.
