NKF’s Chodos to Receive Red Cross Heritage Award

Vice chairman Bob Chodos of NKF will receive one of the American Red Cross’ highest honors, the Heritage Award, at the 16th Annual Heroes Breakfast to be hosted by the American Red Cross Chicago and Northern Illinois chapter in early May. He’ll accept the award on behalf of the Turning the Tide Committee for Hurricane Relief, which he founded after Katrina in 2005.

The genesis of Turning the Tide was an email Chodos sent to industry colleagues expressing his devastation over Katrina’s impact. The committee resulting from that email thread has raised more than $2 million for disaster relief efforts after Katrina and, last year, the back-to-back Hurricanes Harvey, Irma and Maria.

“What began as a simple email among colleagues to raise funds for the victims of Hurricane Katrina grew beyond expectations,” said Chodos. “I am proud of the committee’s efforts and grateful to our team and supporters.”
