NIO Gears Up to Lease 202K-SF Building for 10 Years
A two-story standalone office headquarters in San Jose recently leased to multinational electric vehicle manufacturing company NIO USA Inc. Located at 3151 Zanker Rd., NIO will lease the 201,500 square-foot building for 10 years, utilizing the property as a research and innovation center that will support a variety of functions for the company.
“NIO USA’s new Research and Innovation Center signifies an exciting chapter for the company as it continues to develop state-of-the-art technology for its electric vehicles. In addition, on behalf of the collective team at Colliers, we are honored to have guided NIO USA through its successful search for a new headquarters facility in support of NIO Inc.’s international market expansion,” said Sean Toomey, senior vice president.
Colliers brokered both sides of the deal. Michael Rosendin, Craig Fordyce, Shane Minnis and Ryan Ward represented the landlord, Zanker Road Partners LLC, an affiliate of Los Angeles-based Oakmont Corporation. Toomey, Jere Hench, John McMahon and Sean McMahon represented NIO.
“As North San Jose continues to attract global technology innovators, an EV industry leader like NIO is a perfect fit for one of the market’s premier office/R&D properties,” said Brad Meadow, managing director at Oakmont Corporation.
3151 Zanker Road was originally constructed in 1990, and underwent significant interior and exterior renovations in 2020.
