A new cancer research company, Next Oncology, is hanging its shingle in San Antonio, with plans to establish additional facilities in Texas, nationally and abroad. Launched by cancer researcher Anthony Tolcher, Next Oncology is partnering with Texas Oncology of Dallas, and will secure approximately 20,000 square feet of space in the South Texas Medical Center area.

Tolcher, co-founder of South Texas Accelerated Research Therapeutics, will use the space to launch Next Oncology’s Phase I clinical trials research operations, with an initial group of 20 employees. The organization will operate out of space on Research Boulevard in northwest San Antonio, until permanent space is found.

Tolcher told the San Antonio Business Journal that the next steps will involve expansion to at least three Texas sites in the next two to three years.
