Next Generation Honoree: Taubman’s Carly Li Pens Early Retail Innovations

The Taubman Company’s Carly Li is an exemplary next-gen innovator and strategist with passion and global perspective – not to mention nearly 50,000 Social Media followers. The best-selling author commenced her CRE career at Taubman in 2008 as a summer intern. Today, she leads strategic research and analysis for external growth opportunities, including key contributions on new developments and acquisitions in the U.S. and Asia.

Those are just some of the reasons we chose Li to be one of the ten national 2017 Next Generation Award winners. Connect Media’s Next Generation Awards recognize young leaders in the commercial real estate industry who are likely to be influential for years to come.

Her keen instincts recognized early the importance food and entertainment play in the retail environment, which led to the addition of more authentic, fresh and new concepts. She’s helped pioneer the concept of experiential retail and placemaking, while incorporating outdoor and indoor space, which has resulted in fun centers that have more “Instagrammable” moments. She is currently exploring how technologies such as VR, AR and autonomous vehicles could be applied to the real estate industry.

Li is committed to the career development for young professionals, and despite a busy work schedule, she wrote two acclaimed books published in China on professional development, one on time management and the other on personal finance.
