Next Generation Honoree: Ra’eesa Motala Leads Change in the Community

The challenge of building a portfolio of customers and prospects as an up-and-coming broker is daunting enough, but for Ra’eesa Motala it’s just her day job. Beyond her success with Lee & Associates’ Minneapolis-St. Paul office, Motala also evinces an entrepreneurial drive to enact change in the community through leadership.

She co-founded Femme Obsessed, a venture chartered with creating a platform for women entrepreneurs and business owners to pursue their passions and business growth via networking, mentorship and promotion. Within a three-month timeframe, Motala led vendor acquisition, marketing and operations for Femme Obsessed’s launch event, a pop-up shop that drew 38 vendors at launch, resulting in $25,000 in sales.

That’s just one of the reasons we chose Motala to be one of the National 2018 Next Generation Award winners. Connect Media’s second annual Next Generation Awards recognize young leaders in the commercial real estate industry who are likely to be influential for years to come.

At the same time as she got Femme Obsessed up and running, Motala also was elected president of the Twin Cities Film Festival, a premier regional arts & entertainment festival with 15,000-plus attendees. She’ll be driving growth of the festival with marketing and promotion talents, both through digital tools and through her network of Twin Cities influencers and business leaders.
