Next Generation Honoree: Lee’s Chris Nash Builds His Own Houston Deal Pipeline

Although becoming a broker wasn’t part of Chris Nash’s initial career plan, which revolved around the energy sector, it appears to be a path he was meant to follow, thanks to his high level of motivation and entrepreneurial spirit. At age 24, he impressed Travis Taylor, now a principal at Lee & Associates’ Houston office, with his confident negotiation on a client’s behalf, and Lee & Associates hired him as an associate at the start of 2016. Nash has since sourced 90% of his own transactions, and was the office’s top-producing associate in 2016 and 2017. He was promoted to director at the beginning of 2018.

Those are just some of the reasons we chose Nash to be one of the Texas 2018 Next Generation Award winners. Connect Media’s Next Generation Awards recognize young leaders in the commercial real estate industry who are likely to be influential for years to come.

Nash believes that leveraging information not only wins new business, but also adds value during client negotiations. While most brokers focus on cold-calling, Nash believes in diversifying business development efforts with creative marketing tools. Among his most successful initiatives have been the development of informational pieces comparing a Houston submarket to an industry-related topic from the media. These marketing efforts, combined with other tactics, have been effective in distinguishing Nash from other brokers.
