Next Generation Honoree: JP Sutro Sees Opportunities
Many real estate brokers passed on the chance to work with Seaport Village, a restoration of landmark buildings including dozens of retail spaces along Front St. in Manhattan’s Financial District. JP Sutro saw the possibilities. He leased all of the storefronts, achieving 100% occupancy, and creating a relationship with the developer that led to more deals.
That’s just one of the reasons we chose Sutro to be one of the five 2017 Next Generation Award winners for New York. Connect Media’s Next Generation Awards recognize young leaders in the commercial real estate industry who are likely to be influential for years to come.
As a executive managing director for Lee & Associates, Sutro was also part of the team that brought the Apple Store to Brooklyn, where it opened its first location in the borough’s Williamsburg neighborhood in summer 2016.
Sutro joined Lee & Associates in 2012. Before that, he spent three years as a retail and restaurant broker for Cushman & Wakefield in San Diego.
It didn’t take long for Sutro to get the hang of New York. The Real Estate Board of New York nominated his work on the 30,000-square-foot Landmark Theatres deal on Manhattan’s West Side as the 2016 Retail Deal of the Year.
