Next Generation Honoree: JLL’s Matthew Foust Excels in Motivating Coworkers
JLL’s Matthew Foust excels in the day-to-day role of being a team player, accepting and meeting challenges whether direct or indirect. For example, as manager of an important Washington, DC-area property, he saw the asset’s occupancy drop from 90% to 20% after a large user vacated. Within a year, through his own hard work and encouragement of others, he brought occupancy back to 65% and growing. He received the 2017 Manager of the Year award from JLL, and received a promotion to senior general manager in 2018.
That’s just one of the reasons we chose Foust to be one of the National 2018 Next Generation Award winners. Connect Media’s second annual Next Generation Awards recognize young leaders in the commercial real estate industry who are likely to be influential for years to come.
Foust also goes above and beyond in motivating coworkers. He led a group of 60 employees in a national fundraiser that raised over $15,000 from the Mid-Atlantic Regional Health Champion Network in 2017.
Along the way, he recruited participants, attended kick-off sign-up dates and generally did what was necessary to make sure that all team members had a positive experience. In addition, through Foust’s insight, passion and persistence, the company moved forward to play a large role in the event again this year.
