Next Generation Honoree: Hines’ Drew Huffman Builds a Portfolio
Drew Huffman joined Hines’ Orange County office upon graduation from USC in 2011. At the time, the Orange County office had five employees and a 450,000-square-foot portfolio. Over the past seven years, beginning at the bottom of the current cycle, he has worked alongside senior managing director Ray Lawler and the Hines Orange County team to build the portfolio to as large as four million square feet and a team exceeding 40. Due to his business acumen, initiative, reliability and quick development, Huffman was promoted to associate in 2014, and to director in 2017.
Those are just some of the reasons we chose Huffman to be one of the California 2018 Next Generation Award winners. Connect Media’s second annual Next Generation Awards recognize young leaders in the commercial real estate industry who are likely to be influential for years to come.
Huffman was a member of the 2014-15 NAIOP SoCal Young Professionals Group (YPG). From his class of 35 young leaders, he was singled out by his peers for the John B. Parker Award, which honors outstanding contributions to the program, and for embodying the leadership traits demonstrated by industry icon John B. Parker. He remains a strong YPG advocate, holding numerous leadership roles. Throughout his time leading and serving on YPG committees, Huffman’s priority has been to analyze each focus area and implement greater efficiencies and improvements.
