Next Generation Honoree: Hansen Grows New York for Boston Properties

As a director with Boston Properties’ New York City office, Peter Hansen manages the office and retail leasing of an eight-building, nine-million-square-foot portfolio that includes the iconic General Motors Building at 767 Fifth Ave. Since joining the REIT in July 2014, he has negotiated and closed over two million square feet of leases.

Those are just some of the reasons we chose Hansen to be one of the New York 2018 Next Generation Award winners. Connect Media’s second annual Next Generation Awards recognize young leaders in the commercial real estate industry who are likely to be influential for years to come.

Hansen has played a key role in growing Boston Properties’ New York region. Managing priorities in leasing, not only of Boston Properties but of its tenants as well, requires a sharp focus along with skill in identifying and aligning the goals of all parties involved. Hansen is credited with having both.

His Boston Properties colleagues see him as uniquely-positioned to help create a welcoming and professional environment for the REIT’s clients, that allows Hansen to meet their needs while also helping the business thrive beyond just making the deal. He’s also able to bring a Millennial mindset to the company’s leasing, development and marketing efforts, to help keep its assets relevant for the changing workforce.
