Next Generation Honoree: Bascom’s Jim Singleton Believes in Helping Others Build Careers

In addition to a high volume of transactions across the Western U.S. as VP of acquisitions for the Bascom Group, Jim Singleton is also a strong advocate of helping develop the careers of others. For the past four years, Singleton has led Bascom’s Acquisition Analyst Internship Program, which fosters the growth of driven, up-and-coming real estate professionals. Over 20 interns under his leadership have successfully started careers in the commercial real estate industry.

He’s also an active contributor and participant in WHW and Orangewood Foundation’s Boys2Men program. The program provides young men recently emancipated from foster care with a day of empowerment and education that includes interactive employment workshops, mock interviews and a networking lunch.

Those are just some of the reasons we chose Singleton to be one of the California 2018 Next Generation Award winners. Connect Media’s second annual Next Generation Awards recognize young leaders in the commercial real estate industry who are likely to be influential for years to come.

Over the course of his five-year career with Bascom, Singleton has managed the transaction of 17,129 apartment units, valued at $2.4 billion across six states. He has overseen the acquisition of 7,673 units totaling $1.2 billion in value, the sale of 3,100 units at a total of $505 million, and refinancing on 6,356 units valued at $695 million.
