Next Generation Honoree: ArborCrowd’s Kaufman Champions Transparency

As the real estate crowdfunding industry started to take shape following the passage of the JOBS Act of 2012, Adam Kaufman recognized the potential to create a crowdfunding real estate platform by leveraging the reputation and network of relationships the Arbor family of companies — including the publicly traded Arbor Realty Trust — has cultivated for more than 30 years. He co-founded ArborCrowd, an online platform that enables individuals to make equity investments in institutional-quality commercial real estate, in January 2016, just three years after graduating from the University of Pennsylvania.

That’s just one of the reasons we chose Kaufman to be one of the New York 2018 Next Generation Award winners. Connect Media’s second annual Next Generation Awards recognize young leaders in the commercial real estate industry who are likely to be influential for years to come.

To date, the carefully curated investment opportunities Kaufman has presented on ArborCrowd’s platform have collectively raised more than $18 million of equity in transactions valued at nearly $200 million. Yet, he understands that the real estate crowdfunding industry could be susceptible to bad actors who might try to take advantage of this relatively new concept. Therefore, in addition to his stewardship of ArborCrowd, he is an outspoken leader who advocates for responsibility in the space and promotes transparency in the industry.
