2020 Next Generation Honoree: Capital Square’s Whitson Huffman is Wise Beyond His Years

In his role as chief strategy and investment officer at Capital Square, Whitson Huffman is responsible for the oversight of investment activity at Capital Square, which includes leadership of the firm’s real estate investments related to its Delaware statutory trust/Section 1031 exchanges, qualified opportunity zone funds and other private placement investment offerings.

At just 31 years old, Huffman’s expertise and proven track record in sourcing and vetting real estate property acquisitions and development opportunities has made him a valued executive at Capital Square. With only two years at the firm under his belt, Huffman has played a significant role in Capital Square’s success by helping to more than double the firm’s transaction volume. He

joined the firm in 2018, when the company had approximately $500 million in transaction volume. Just 23 months later, the firm has completed approximately $2 billion in transaction volume.

During Huffman’s first 12 months at Capital Square, he helped lead the company to cross the $1 billion threshold in total transaction volume.

These are just a few of the reasons we chose Huffman to be one of the D.C. region’s 2020 Next Generation Award Winners. Connect Media’s fourth annual Next Generation Awards recognize young leaders in the commercial real estate industry who are likely to be influential for years to come.
