2020 Next Generation Honoree: Berkadia’s Matt Olson is Problem Solving, Opportunistic Broker
Matt Olson has been involved in more than $250 million of transactions during his career. Olson began his career at multinational investment manager Eaton Vance in 2009, while simultaneously pursuing his passions in Real Estate through ownership in smaller, multifamily and commercial real estate developments.
In 2014, Olson decided to merge his passions of real estate and building relationships and began pursuing real estate brokerage. He found success early in urban multifamily housing by finding ideal matches of sellers and buyers in mostly off-market settings. Since joining Berkadia in February of 2020, Olson has expanded to sourcing multifamily deals in the Greater Boston market, uncovering opportunities for clients throughout New England.
Most recently, Olson has brokered a number of urban development deals on behalf of clients including the former Eastern Baker’s Supply site and a $15 million assemblage of developable parcels in Boston’s North End neighborhood.
Olson has been recognized for putting the needs of his clients first. He also prides himself on his ability to problem solve and craft creative solutions. In many deals, Olson has introduced the buyer, developer, equity source, lender and legal counsel to a single deal in order to put the most effective team together to best serve the asset and the community.
These are just a few of the reasons we chose Olson to be one of the Boston region’s 2020 Next Generation Award Winners. Connect Media’s fourth annual Next Generation Awards recognize young leaders in the commercial real estate industry who are likely to be influential for years to come.
