2020 Next Generation Honoree: Capital One’s Marc Soto Distinguishes Himself as Leader

Marc Soto is currently a VP and relationship manager on Capital One’s commercial real estate team. He joined Capital One as an analyst in August of 2015 and in short order was promoted to his current role.

Within the CRE team, Soto has already distinguished himself as a talented leader and relationship manager, colleagues say. Many of his examples of leadership are behind the scenes and benefit those coming up behind him. For instance, he took the initiative to create and run an Analyst and New Hire training program in 2019, which resulted in the successful training of more than 30 individuals that year.

Soto saw this as an opportunity to help associates reach their maximum potential at Capital One. He also oversees all new hires and analysts on his team for the purposes of day-to-day mentoring.

These are just some of the reasons we chose Soto to be one of the National 2020 Next Generation Award winners. Connect Media’s fourth annual Next Generation Awards recognize young leaders in the commercial real estate industry who are likely to be influential for years to come.

On the business development side, Soto took over responsibility of a production channel in 2018 and aided in increasing his team’s production by 33% and his individual channel production by 233% from the year prior, facilitating more than $1 billion in new originations that year.
