2020 Next Generation Honoree: Jamison Properties’ Garrett Lee Elevates Firm’s Position in Multifamily Industry

Garrett Lee assumed the role of President of Jamison Properties, LP.  nearly seven years ago and since that time he’s played a key part in elevating the Los Angeles-based company’s position among the top in the multifamily industry. Driven by the knowledge that Southern California needs more housing, Lee has been at the forefront of Jamison’s strategy of building its multifamily inventory through the conversion of roughly one-third of its existing office buildings into residential properties and the development of ground-up projects.

Jamison entered the Los Angeles multifamily market with the conversion of a 12-story office building at 3075 Wilshire into the 127-unit Westmore and since then Jamison has grown its multifamily portfolio to roughly 1,800 units. Under Lee’s leadership, each of the firm’s first five development and adaptive re-use projects reached 90% occupancy within four months of completion.

From its early days in SoCal focused on projects in Koreatown, Lee has led Jamison to expand its footprint across the L.A. basin including projects in DTLA. Despite the COVID-19 pandemic, Garrett Lee has made sure Jamison continues to move forward with projects, and is expected to add approximately 1,700 units to its multifamily portfolio by the end of 2020.

These are just some of the reasons we chose Lee as one of the California 2020 Next Generation Award winners. Connect Media’s fourth annual Next Generation Awards recognize young leaders in the commercial real estate industry who are likely to be influential for years to come.
