2020 Next Generation Honoree: MFI’s Evan Albert Works with Institutions, Mom and Pops

Evan Albert got his start in leasing in MFI’s main office in Pikesville, MD right after college and opened MFI’s DC office in June 2019. Now 27, he has worked with institutional clients as well as mom and pops and spearheaded MFI’s efforts to join XTeam, an international network of retail brokerage firms.

These are just a few reasons we chose Albert to be one of the Washington, DC 2020 Next Generation Award winners. Connect Media’s fourth annual Next Generation Awards recognize young leaders in the commercial real estate industry who are likely to be influential for years to come.

Albert has demonstrated a knack for finding opportunities and leveraging relationships to benefit his clients. For instance, he was looking for a client requirement in Columbia, MD and the landlord did not want to lease to his client because they were preparing to sell the building and looking for a better credit tenant. A few days later, MFI went under contract on the building in a completely off-market transaction.

Another thing that sets him apart is a love of retail history. On tenant tours he’ll routinely point out old locations of EJ Korvettes and Woolworths, and says that not many 27-year-olds even know what those concepts were and how they helped shape what the retail market looks like today.
