Next Generation Honoree: Ryan McManigal with KDC Builds Success on Relationships

Ryan McManigal joined KDC in 2017. These days, as the company’s senior vice president, McManigal leads business development and strategy. Most recently, he played a key role in landing a more than 215,000-square-foot headquarters deal in West Des Moines, IA for Sammons Financial Group.

McManigal’s main focus, however, is relationships. Said a KDC colleague: “Ryan’s ability to connect with clients is uncanny, and his thoughtfulness, intentionality and relationship-building skills are aspects that others at KDC are trying to emulate.”

McManigal’s impact on KDC earned him a Connect Media Next Generation Award. Connect Media’s third annual Next Generation Awards recognize young leaders in the commercial real estate industry who are likely to be influential for years to come.

While McManigal has been with KDC for two years, he was no stranger to the company beforehand. As a vice president with KBS Realty Advisor, he was responsible for a 3.5-million-square-foot portfolio in the Dallas-Fort Worth area, and frequently worked with KDC.

A graduate of the University of California, McManigal understood, early on, that real estate finance was his passion. “With his humility, and a legitimate interest in learning what makes them tick, what is important to them and what they worry about, he is able to generate ideas that actually address his clients’ needs,” the KDC colleague observed. “Now he is able to anticipate trends and position KDC in certain areas, to be able to address those needs in the future.”
