Next Generation Honoree: JLL’s Katie Fernandez-Espinosa is Mixed-Use Leasing Pioneer

Katie Fernandez-Espinosa breaks the traditional labels of retail or office leasing agent to craft winning strategies for mixed-use properties. As Vice President, retail advisory at JLL’s South Florida office, Fernandez-Espinosa is one of the rate leasing agents that approaches leasing space from a truly holistic standpoint. For her, mixed-use projects are more than just a buzzword.

Fernandez-Espinosa has the unique background and skill-set to look at each space within a project and intuitively understand what type of tenant is best suited to the owners’ financial and place-making goals.

In the face of the often publicized “retailpocalypse,” Katie moved asset classes into retail and mixed-use leasing from office leasing, by embracing the evolution of the way people are now living. Katie has embraced an asset class in evolution and seized the opportunity to embrace the change.
