Next Generation Honoree: Alec Manfre’s Bractlet Helps Reduce Office Building Energy Costs
Bractlet was launched in 2011 with one goal: To quantify buildings’ energy use, and help owners and landlords reduce energy consumption and costs.
Eight years later, Alec Manfre, the proptech company’s founder and CEO, continues to assist institutional office property owners reduce operational and energy costs by generating real-time and historical building information through proprietary hardware and software. That equipment creates a digital energy twin of each individual building, simulating performance with near-perfect accuracy, and helping asset managers improve ROI.
Manfre, named to Forbes’ 2017 list of “30 under 30” in Energy, doesn’t just sit back in his office and push paper and numbers around. Colleagues speak to his willingness to “dive into any aspect of the company,” and to “get his hands dirty” to help the Austin-headquartered Bractlet succeed. That success has helped reduce energy costs to the company’s 25-million-square-foot portfolio.
Manfre continues leading initiatives, ranging from sales and partnership discussions, to financing of the company, to product design and management. Thanks to his skills and background, Manfre has assisted his software team by coding to prototype new solutions, when necessary. Basically, “Alec’s unique ability to identify issues, dive headfirst into a project, and get things in motion — before handing the project back to the respective team to complete — has been a significant factor in Bractlet’s rapid growth,” said a colleague. It has also led him to be a Connect Media Next Generation winner.
Connect Media’s third annual Next Generation Awards recognize young leaders in the commercial real estate industry who are likely to be influential for years to come.
