NexGen Hotels Acquires Chicago Landmark Hotel Versey

NexGen Hotels, a hotel development and management company based in Itasca, Illinois, has acquired the Hotel Versey in Chicago. Located at 644 W Diversey Parkway, the 137-room hotel will be managed by Genuine Hospitality Group of St. Louis, Missouri.

The boutique hotel is located within the 1920s Diversey Arms building, a Northside Chicago landmark that first served as a home to jazz musician Bix Beiderbecke. It was later known as the “Rock and Roll Days Inn” due to its popularity with rock bands including the Foo Fighters, Nirvana, Smashing Pumpkins, the Red Hot Chili Peppers and the Black Keys.

“The Hotel Versey has been on our radar for a long time as it is steeped in rich hospitality tradition that dates back to the 1920s,” said Chris Patel, president, NexGen Hotels. “We hope to continue on with this tradition with this completely one-of-a-kind hotel.”

Hotel Versey is situated near Lincoln Park in close proximity to restaurants, nightclubs, shopping, museums and universities. The property features Chicago décor on the walls behind each bed, which highlights iconic local sites like Wrigley Field, the Ferris wheel at Navy Pier, and the skyline.
