NewPoint Names Barnes Managing Director, Head of Closing

Tonya Barnes

NewPoint Real Estate Capital has hired real estate banking veteran Tonya Barnes as Managing Director, Head of Closing. Based out of Irvine, CA, Barnes is responsible for overseeing and streamlining all closing and transaction management activities.

“I’m excited to join NewPoint and its team of leaders focused on bringing more innovative processes and unique lending solutions to the industry,” said Barnes. “I look forward to working alongside this elite group who’s devoted to exceptional client service and seamless execution.”

Barnes brings three decades of banking experience, having handled closings for a variety of property types including multifamily, affordable housing, senior housing and student housing. Before arriving at NewPoint, she worked at Avanath Capital Management and KeyBank Real Estate Capital.

Mark comes to ConnectCRE with an extensive background as a business and news reporter in San Francisco radio, as well as 35 years as a traffic reporter on several stations including KGO, KNBR, KCBS and KFRC. As a business reporter, Mark covered the tech world in Silicon Valley where he became familiar with real estate transactions in the hot Bay Area marketplace. He attended San Jose State University with a BA in Radio and TV Broadcasting and currently resides in the Lake Tahoe area where he gets to frequently enjoy all of his favorite activities: Golfing, Fishing, Hiking and Skiing.
