NewMark Merrill Targets Under-Invested Communities with New Venture
NewMark Merrill Companies, Inc., a Calabasas-based retail shopping center owner and development company, launched NewMark Merrill Hadler Community Partners, a new venture focused on the acquisition, development, management and operation of retail centers in under-invested and under-supplied communities. The firm was co-founded by NewMark Merrill president and CEO Sandy Sigal and former NewMark Merrill portfolio manager Jermaine McMihelk, who will serve as managing director and oversee day-to-day operations.
“Our mission is to enrich communities by driving economic success and growth, along with partnering with local leaders, and creating multi-generational gathering spaces that benefit all aspects of communities,” said McMihelk. “We want to not only be known as the best operators and investors in retail shopping centers in under-invested and under-supplied communities, but also the most innovative, inclusive and collaborative.”
McMihelk previously served as an asset manager with Primestor Development, where he oversaw the operations and performance of its grocery-anchored shopping centers held in partnership with Federal Realty Investment Trust. Prior to that, he spent five years at NewMark Merrill, most recently serving as a portfolio manager.
